RAWALPINDI:

Police arrested a man for allegedly killing his elder brother, his own minor son, and injuring two relatives for "honour" in the Panjgran Sagri locality on Wednesday.

Rawat Police said that the motive was understood to be a bitter dispute over the suspect's wife's purported illicit relationship with his elder sibling.

According to statements provided to the police by the complainant, Gulbaz Khan, the family comprises four brothers and as many sisters. The deceased elder brother, Sherbaz Khan, was unmarried, while the others were wed.

The accused, Aashiq Hussain, employed by the PWD, primarily resides in a rented accommodation, but maintains a locked section within the family's shared residential compound, or 'haveli', where Sherbaz also lived. Aashiq would occasionally use this space with his family.

Preliminary police investigation showed that Aashiq was allegedly aware of a clandestine relationship between his wife, Maimoona, and his elder brother, Sherbaz. This profound betrayal and subsequent conflict reportedly drove him to murder both Sherbaz and his own son, Abdul Ahad, and to injure Gulbaz and Malik Dad.

Rawalpindi City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani sought an official report from the Saddar SP and issued orders for the immediate apprehension of the culprit, who was later taken into custody for further legal action.
