Physint, the upcoming project from Hideo Kojima, is set to mark his return to the action-espionage genre. Although still in the early stages of development, the game is already being described as a next-generation title that will blur the lines between cinema and video games.

The project was first announced during a State of Play broadcast on January 31 2024. Since then, details have been limited as Kojima focused on Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.

In May 2025, Kojima suggested he was the only member of Kojima Productions working on Physint, and that the game could require five to six years of development.

An update in August 2025 confirmed the title remains in the conceptual phase. If projections hold, it may not launch until 2030.

Physint is being developed in partnership with Sony and Columbia Pictures. It has been described as more than a traditional video game, combining action-espionage gameplay with high-production live-action components.

Kojima has called it the “culmination of [his] work,” reflecting his long-standing interest in merging cinematic storytelling with interactive design.

Confirmed cast members include Charlee Fraser, Ma Dong-seok, and Minami Hamabe, although their roles remain undisclosed. None has been identified as the protagonist.

Promotional artwork hints at a yet-to-be-revealed leading character, with speculation among fans linking names such as Robert Pattinson and Eddie Redmayne.

As a next-generation PlayStation title, Physint is expected to launch exclusively on the PS6, with a possible PC port later. No release window has been announced.

For now, Physint represents Kojima’s most ambitious attempt to merge Hollywood production values with interactive espionage gameplay, continuing his legacy of pushing the boundaries of video game design.
