A 10-foot bronze statue of Tina Turner has been unveiled in her hometown of Brownsville, Tennessee, but many fans have voiced disappointment, arguing the tribute does not resemble the late singer. The work was revealed on September 27 during the town’s annual Tina Turner Heritage Days.

Despite these intentions, reactions online were far from unanimous. Social media users quickly shared their thoughts, with some commenting that the likeness was unflattering. One post read, “Who made that Tina Turner statue?” while another described it as “a tragedy” and insisted that “she deserves better.”

Some took a more light-hearted tone, admitting the statue made them laugh. One post joked about her hairstyle, asking why sculptors always seem to miss key details of famous figures. Another suggested sculptors might be deliberately provoking reactions with inaccurate tributes.

Tina Turner, born Anna Mae Bullock, died in May 2023 at the age of 83 after a long illness. Widely regarded as the “Queen of Rock ’n’ Roll,” she was known for her powerhouse performances and classic hits including Proud Mary, Nutbush City Limits, and Private Dancer.

Over her decades-long career, she won eight Grammy Awards, five Billboard awards, and was inducted twice into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
