RAWALPINDI:

An accused man, wanted for the brutal murder and alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old boy on the roof of his house in the Pirwadhai police station area, was killed in an apparent police encounter early on Tuesday.

The suspect's accomplice, however, managed to escape, with police currently conducting raids to secure his arrest.

According to the police, the incident occurred late at night when a patrol team attempted to stop two suspicious men on a motorcycle for a routine check. Upon seeing the police, the riders immediately opened fire. Shots struck Constable Noor and a nearby wall.

The Constable was safe, protected by his bulletproof jacket. During the ensuing crossfire, one of the suspects was injured, while his companion successfully fled while continuing to fire.

A search of the injured suspect recovered cash and a birth certificate bearing the name Waleed from his pocket. He was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Police officials confirmed that the deceased suspect, Waleed, was the individual wanted in connection with the case of the sexual assault and murder of the 15-year-old boy the previous day. Teams had been formed to apprehend him following the crime.
