Students paint vision of polio-free Pakistan
The Department of Fine Arts at Rawalpindi Women University (RWU), in collaboration with the Department of Computer Arts at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) and the Emergency Operations Centre for Polio Eradication, organized a poster competition titled "Our Generation: A Polio-Free Nation."
The event, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 on Good Health and Well-being, aimed to engage youth in promoting public health and raising awareness about the fight against polio.
The competition was inaugurated by Prof Dr Roohul Ameen, Chairperson of RWU's Department of English and Fine Arts, while Dr Ehsan Ghani, Chief Executive Officer of the District Health Authority Rawalpindi, attended as chief guest.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Ghani stressed that polio vaccines are completely safe, dismissing negative propaganda as baseless. He noted that this year's campaign targets 650,000 children and will continue until Pakistan is declared polio-free.
The competition, announced in August, received numerous entries by September 15. From these, a panel of judges shortlisted 27 outstanding submissions.
