Josh Hartnett has resumed work in Newfoundland following a car accident that caused significant damage to the vehicles involved.
The actor, best known for his roles in Oppenheimer and The Virgin Suicides, was in Canada filming a limited series when the collision occurred.
According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, the incident took place in St. John’s shortly before 1 am on Thursday, September 25.
A vehicle carrying Hartnett collided with a police patrol vehicle, resulting in three people being taken to hospital. The force confirmed that the driver of the SUV, a 59-year-old man, and a 47-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries. An officer was also transported for medical assessment as a precaution.
Hartnett was evaluated at the scene and released back to work. His representative, Susan Patricola, confirmed on Monday, September 29, that the actor was safe and continuing with his commitments. The police stated that their investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
The accident occurred during production of a six-episode Netflix limited series created by Jesse McKeown. The project, which began filming in August, is set and shot in Newfoundland and features Hartnett in a leading role.
This marks one of his latest projects following his appearance in M. Night Shyamalan’s 2024 thriller Trap and the upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's Verity.
Despite the disruption caused by the accident, Hartnett has resumed his professional schedule, underscoring his focus on the ongoing Netflix series.
