PPP youth leader accused of land grabbing, extortion

A resident of Bhittai Nagar, Qasimabad, has appealed to top Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leaders for protection, alleging that his land has been forcibly occupied and that he has been threatened with extortion demands.

Speaking at a press conference at the Hyderabad Press Club alongside his nephew, Syed Kashif Shah, Syed Ghulam Ali Shah claimed that PPP Youth Wing Nawabshah City President, Asad Zardari, had demanded Rs15 million in extortion and issued death threats.

He appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Women's Wing President Faryal Talpur, and Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar to take immediate notice of the matter and ensure justice.

Shah said that he has a longstanding land ownership dispute with his cousin, Syed Munawar Shah, which the court has already decided in his favor. However, he alleged that Munawar Shah's group exceeded its share and illegally sold an additional 10 acres, totaling 53 acres, to different parties.

He further alleged that of his rightful 33 acres, around 22 acres have been unlawfully occupied by Asad Zardari, who is allegedly demanding Rs15 million to vacate the land. Calling the act "sheer injustice," Shah claimed that government departments in Nawabshah district are under PPP's influence and do not pay heed to the grievances of ordinary citizens.
