Epic Games has removed the Peacemaker Peaceful Hips emote from Fortnite after players raised concerns about its design.
The emote, introduced as part of a collaboration with the DC series starring John Cena, was based on the show’s Season 2 dance sequence. However, some fans noticed that the exaggerated arm movements appeared to form shapes resembling half a swastika, sparking widespread criticism.

The Peacemaker series, created by James Gunn, has previously used choreography in its opening dance to foreshadow storylines and villains. Fans speculated that the Season 2 routine’s controversial gesture may have been another symbolic choice tied to the plot. This led to questions about whether the design was intentional or a coincidence.
On September 28, the official Fortnite Status account announced that the emote had been taken out of the game. “We’re disabling the Peaceful Hips Emote in Fortnite as we inquire into our partner’s creative intentions in this collab emote,” the statement read. Epic confirmed that players who purchased the item will receive refunds in the coming days.
While the investigation is ongoing, industry observers believe the emote is unlikely to return to Fortnite given the backlash. If permanently removed, it will join a list of discontinued items such as the Rue outfit and Washington “Redskins” football skins, which were pulled due to concerns over offensive content.
The decision highlights Epic Games’ continued monitoring of its collaborations and cosmetic content, especially when designs may be perceived as culturally insensitive or harmful.
