
With the change of seasons and passing months, maintaining good dental hygiene is increasingly vital for overall health and well-being. Dentists stress that regular dental visits are essential to prevent oral health complications.
Neglecting oral care routines, they warn, can result in pain, discomfort, and embarrassment, ultimately compromising a person's quality of life.
Renowned dentist Dr Arshad said that poor oral health has been linked to systemic illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory infections. "Maintaining good dental hygiene is essential for a healthy life," he said. "Plaque buildup, if left untreated, can lead to cavities and gum disease."
He added that many people underestimate the importance of oral care, often seeking help only after serious problems arise. He recommended dental check-ups every six months to detect issues early and prevent more severe conditions.
Dr Ali, another dental expert, emphasised that oral hygiene is part of a healthy lifestyle. "It's not just about brushing and flossing," he explained. "By adopting simple daily habits and scheduling regular check-ups, people can prevent a lifetime of dental problems."
He stressed that good dental practices should begin in childhood. Parents, he said, must instil proper brushing and flossing habits in their children and arrange regular dental visits to ensure healthy teeth and gums.
Dentists recommend brushing at least twice daily, flossing regularly, and undergoing routine check-ups to protect against tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath. "By prioritising dental hygiene, individuals can maintain a healthy smile and avoid preventable health issues," they said.
Experts concluded that dental health is an integral part of overall well-being. "It is never too late to start looking after your teeth and gums. With consistent care, people can ensure their dental health - and their confidence - for years to come."
