Cop suspended for 'aiding' drug peddler

A constable, who provided a mobile phone and other facilities to a drug dealer in the lock-up, was suspended on Thursday.

Following the viral video of the police gunman on social media, the CPO took notice of the matter and initiated action. Sources said SHO City Jaranwala Yusuf Supra had arrested a drug dealer and placed him in the lock-up.

It is alleged that his gunman, Constable Altaf Hussain, provided the drug dealer with special treatment in the lock-up, allowing him to use a mobile phone.

The video showing the drug dealer talking on the phone in the lock-up went viral on social media. In response, CPO Faisalabad, Sahibzada Bilal Umar, took notice of the issue and directed SP Jaranwala, Bakhtiar Ahmad, to submit a report. As a result, SHO's gunman Altaf Hussain was suspended, and a closed-door inquiry was launched, with DSP Khurrianwala tasked with investigating the incident.
