Ed Sheeran has revealed that, like many fans, he discovered Taylor Swift’s engagement to Travis Kelce through social media.
During an interview with Andy Cohen ahead of his SiriusXM Small Stage Series performance in New York City on September 24, the singer admitted he had no prior knowledge of the news. Asked how he found out about Swift’s engagement, Sheeran responded with a single word: “Instagram.”
Cohen expressed surprise that the longtime friends did not exchange messages beforehand. Sheeran confirmed he did not receive a direct message or an early “save the date” for the wedding.
Swift, 35, announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, in August while appearing on Kelce’s New Heights podcast. Just weeks later, the couple revealed their engagement in a joint Instagram post that quickly went viral.
While plans for the ceremony remain in the early stages, a source told Us Weekly that the wedding will likely take place early next year. Swift and Kelce are reportedly considering a more private and intimate celebration with close friends and family rather than a large celebrity gathering.
Sheeran and Swift share a long history of collaboration, dating back to their 2012 hit Everything Has Changed. The pair performed together during Swift’s Red Tour and reunited in 2024 when Sheeran joined her on stage at London’s Wembley Stadium during The Eras Tour.
Despite their busy schedules, Sheeran has described his friendship with Swift as close, sharing that they usually catch up a few times a year with long conversations about life and music.
