Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny has reportedly been targeted with a “credible death threat” during his No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí residency, according to TMZ and statements from journalist Jay Fonseca. The allegation has added a troubling shadow over what was already a high-profile concert run.
Fonseca, a journalist with ties in Puerto Rico, claimed that the threat was made online and that the individual behind it was allegedly armed. He further asserted that federal law enforcement officials, including the FBI, had a presence at the residency, though it is unclear whether they were there for the entire duration.
The residency, No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí, spanned 31 shows at San Juan’s José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum from July 11 to September 20, 2025. During that period, Bad Bunny was among the most scrutinised artists in Latin music, both for his massive fan turnout and his outspoken political positions.
While TMZ reports the threat was regarded as credible, it is not known if the person behind it has been arrested or formally charged. Nor is it confirmed whether the armed suspect approached or attempted to carry out any threat in person. The timing, methods, or specific intended actions remain undisclosed in public sources.
Separately, news also surfaced that a U.S. tourist attending Bad Bunny’s Puerto Rico residency was fatally shot in La Perla, a coastal neighborhood of San Juan. That incident, which the police say was not directly linked to the threat, raises the stakes of security concerns during the residency period.
Bad Bunny has not publicly commented on the death threat reports. His team also has not confirmed or denied the presence of federal agents, or whether any arrests or investigations are underway in connection with the alleged threat.
As the allegations continue to swirl, the matter now hinges on what federal and local authorities will confirm publicly. Until then, details like the identity of the threatener, their motive, or whether the threat was ever close to execution remain in the realm of unverified reporting.
