Formula One champion Sir Lewis Hamilton has revealed that his beloved bulldog, Roscoe, was recently hospitalized after what he described as a “scary few hours.” Hamilton, 40, shared the update with his fans through an Instagram story on Wednesday, asking them to keep Roscoe “in your thoughts and prayers” (via Instagram).
Roscoe, who has long been a fixture alongside Hamilton at racetracks and public events, was diagnosed with pneumonia in April. Since then, the ten-year-old dog has been undergoing treatments that include medication and even acupuncture. Despite ongoing care, Roscoe’s health scare this week required a visit to a veterinary clinic, where Hamilton posted a photo of him resting.
The seven-time world champion expressed his deep bond with Roscoe, previously noting that they have “grown up together” and calling the dog a blessing in his life (Instagram). While Hamilton travels extensively for his career, Roscoe is cared for by animal trainer Kirstin McMillan.
Roscoe is no ordinary pet—he has accompanied Hamilton to races around the globe, appeared in F1: The Movie alongside Brad Pitt, and built a following of more than 1.3 million on Instagram. His presence has become part of Hamilton’s public image, often celebrated by fans as a loyal companion.
Hamilton’s update comes at a time when he is also facing challenges on the track. Since moving to Ferrari from Mercedes earlier this year, he has struggled to secure a podium finish. His latest outing in Baku ended with an eighth-place finish after qualifying setbacks and strategy issues.
For now, however, Hamilton’s focus remains firmly on Roscoe’s recovery. “It’s been a scary few hours,” he wrote, underscoring his emotional plea for support from fans around the world.
