Sony’s animated blockbuster franchise is swinging back to theaters a little earlier than expected.

The studio has officially moved up the release of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, now set to open on June 18, 2027, one week ahead of its previously scheduled date of June 25.

The new release window positions the film around Father’s Day and Juneteenth, giving it a strong holiday frame.

The third film in the Oscar-winning trilogy follows the success of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), both of which captivated audiences with their groundbreaking animation and multiverse storytelling centered on Miles Morales.

Plot details remain under wraps, but the film is expected to serve as the conclusion to the beloved trilogy.

Directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson previously teased a “satisfying ending” that brings the story full circle.

At the box office, the first two films were massive successes: Into the Spider-Verse earned $384 million worldwide and secured the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, while Across the Spider-Verse soared past $690 million globally.

On its new release date, Beyond the Spider-Verse will open one week after Universal’s live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2 and directly against Disney’s animated film Gatto.
