Two killed, over 30 injured in M-9 Motorway crashes
Two deadly traffic accidents occurred on the M-9 Motorway within the jurisdictions of Nooriabad and Lonikot police stations, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to at least 33 others. Over ten victims remain in critical condition.
The first incident took place near the HESCO petrol pump in Nooriabad, where a passenger coach travelling from Karachi to Larkana rammed into a trailer ahead of it due to over-speeding. The impact left at least 15 passengers injured, including the driver and cleaner of the coach.
Rescue personnel transported the injured to the Nooriabad Trauma Centre.
Motorway Police took the trailer into custody and handed it over to the district police. The trailer driver, however, managed to flee the scene. Most of the injured passengers were residents of Larkana and nearby areas.
The second accident occurred near the Bholaari Airbase, within the limits of Lonikot Police Station, when another passenger coach, travelling from Hyderabad to Karachi, collided with a trailer while overtaking.
Two people, including the coach driver Rana Sajid from Sargodha, died on the spot. The identity of the second deceased person is yet to be confirmed. Around 18 passengers were injured, six of whom are in critical condition and have been shifted to Hyderabad Civil Hospital.
Several others were transported to LMU Hospital Jamshoro. Police are continuing their investigation, and efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding driver.
