WASA approves Rs6b annual budget

The Rawalpindi Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has approved its budget for 2025-26 in the first meeting of its governing body.

According to the budget, WASA will generate Rs3,792 million from its own resources and receive Rs2,233.6 million from government grants and the Annual Development Programme (ADP).

Expenditures are estimated at Rs5,002.8 million from internal resources and Rs2,233.6 million from government grants and ADP WASA Managing Director Muhammad Saleem Ashraf informed the body that a record recovery of Rs3,590.7 million was achieved last year, and the new target has been set accordingly.

He added that WASA Rawalpindi is focusing on enhancing revenue recovery and continuing special actions against defaulters.

The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Housing Madiha Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramesha Javed, Director Local Government Syed Sibtain Kazmi, Deputy District Accounts Officer Amjad Ali Khan, Deputy Director Development Mazhar Nadeem, Punjab WASA Authority Director Tahir Aamir, Deputy MD WASA Muhammad Hasnain, and other officials.
