Abducted girl swiftly recovered

Alleged abductor abandons child near Taxila fearing police checks

RAWALPINDI:

An eight-year-old girl kidnapped outside a private hospital in Chandi Chowk, Rawalpindi, was recovered within hours after the abductor abandoned her near Taxila late at night due to strict police checking.

According to police, the girl's grandfather, Gulzar Masih, a resident of Medical Staff Colony, had brought his dengue-stricken daughter-in-law, grandson, and granddaughter Kainat for treatment at Benazir Bhutto Hospital.

While standing at the gate, a masked man lured him and the children inside the hospital, during which the suspect took Kainat away.

On receiving the complaint, City Police Officer (CPO) Khalid Hamdani ordered immediate action, and a case was registered.

CCTV footage from the hospital and nearby areas was obtained.

Later, the abductor abandoned the girl near Taxila and fled.

She was recovered by police and safely reunited with her parents.

CPO Hamdani said that children are everyone's responsibility and vowed that the culprit would be arrested and brought to justice. He added that crimes against children will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
