A protest over a Rs2,000 fine escalated in Islamabad on Wednesday when a man climbed a mobile phone tower, demanding Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s personal assurance before coming down.
Rescue and fire brigade teams reached the scene, but no district administration or police officer was present. Fire and rescue officials engaged the man in negotiations atop the tower.

The protester, identified as Mohsin, told authorities, “I was fined Rs2,000. I will only come down from the tower if the interior minister personally comes here and assures me.”
After several hours, Mohsin was safely brought down and taken into custody by Islamabad Police.

This is not just the first time...
In a scene reminiscent of a recent incident in Rawalpindi’s Pirwadhai area, a 33-year-old man climbed a utility pole and was seen dangling from live electric wires, prompting Rescue 1122 and police to rush to the scene.
Residents alerted authorities immediately, and while a crowd gathered, the man fell from the wires before the official rescue operation could begin.
Miraculously, he survived.
Police confirmed that Rescue 1122 led the operation with their assistance, noting that they do not have the authority to intervene in cases of attempted suicide, and emphasized the importance of keeping untrained individuals away from such hazardous situations.
