PM seeks stronger ties with Kuwait

NEW YORK:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday expressed Pakistan's keen desire to further strengthen bilateral ties with Kuwait, particularly in trade, investment, agriculture, livestock, manpower export and health.

The prime minister, who is currently on a visit to New York to participate in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), held a bilateral meeting with Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait.

During their meeting, the prime minister recalled the longstanding, historic fraternal ties between Pakistan and Kuwait.

The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international issues, including the situation in the Middle East.

The crown prince appreciated Pakistan's diplomatic efforts to effectively project the plight of the Palestinian people before the international community as well as playing an important role for peace in the region. Both leaders affirmed their resolve to collaborate closely, both bilaterally as well as on multilateral forums.

Separately, the premier praised US President Donald Trump and his team for playing a significant role in the ceasefire between Pakistan and India.

Speaking to the media in New York, the prime minister described President Trump as a strong advocate for peace and stability across the globe.

"President Donald Trump is a man of peace. He, along with his team, played a key role in bringing about the ceasefire between Pakistan and India," he said.

The prime minister and Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, Christian Stocker on Tuesday expressed their desire to further enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors.

On the sidelines of the UNGA, the prime minister met Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria Christian Stocker.

Both the leaders expressed their desire to further enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors.

The premier highlighted trade, tourism, climate change and education as possible avenues of positive collaboration and stressed upon the need to enhance bilateral trade ties.
