Sabrina Carpenter has shared candid insights into her personal and professional experiences with men, revealing both admiration and frustration in a recent interview with Vogue Italia, published on September 23.

The 26-year-old singer and actress reflected on the mixed ways men have influenced her life, describing them as “a super entertaining species to watch” — both positively and negatively. “I feel really adored and inspired and loved by some of them… and really confused and attacked and ridiculed by others,” she explained.

Carpenter acknowledged that the public nature of her career has magnified these dynamics. To cope with uncomfortable moments and public scrutiny, she said she turns to humor as a form of emotional resilience. “All my life, I’ve thought that’s what humor is all about,” she said. “In addition to saving me, this kind of wit has been a filter that has ensured my protection for the future.”

Despite the challenges, Carpenter emphasized her hope for future generations, especially young boys. “When one of my female friends announces that she’s having a son, I just rejoice for that young boy,” she said, expressing confidence that he will be raised well. She added, “We’ve always kind of had to train them… unfortunately, it’s a tale as old as time.”

Carpenter, who reportedly ended her relationship with actor Barry Keoghan last December, addressed speculation about her music referencing past romances — particularly tracks like “Manchild” and “Bed Chem.” Speaking on CBS Mornings, she said she’s transparent with romantic partners about writing songs and noted that most have been “pretty flattered” by the mentions.

“I think I will attract exactly who I’m supposed to attract,” she said, adding that she sees emotional strength as a key quality in potential partners.
