Epic Games has launched a widespread ban wave in Fortnite after the release of its new limited-time mode, Delulu, on September 19, 2025. Thousands of players have been temporarily banned for toxic behavior in Proximity Chat, according to an update posted by the official Fortnite Status account.

Epic had encouraged players to use the in-game voice reporting feature to flag abusive behavior when Delulu went live. Reports quickly escalated over the weekend, with many players accused of harassment, including the use of racial slurs, leading Epic to take action. Temporary suspensions are ranging from two weeks to one month, primarily affecting competitive and ranked matches. In more severe cases, Epic has issued broader account bans, preventing full access to the game.

While Fortnite has long enforced bans against cheating methods such as XP exploits, aimbot hardware, and account purchasing—penalties that have even impacted prominent content creators like Tfue—this latest wave emphasizes voice chat moderation. Epic’s moderation team has stated it is working to provide quicker resolutions to reports, aiming to preserve fairness in high-stakes environments like Cash Cups and the newly introduced Delulu mode.

For players who believe they were unfairly penalized, Epic has confirmed that appeals can be filed through its official website. However, the company clarified that minor exploits, such as the recently discovered Delulu Victory Umbrella trick, are not expected to result in bans.

The crackdown highlights Epic’s ongoing efforts to manage both competitive integrity and community standards within Fortnite. As the Delulu mode continues to attract players, Epic has made it clear that enforcing rules around toxic behavior will remain a top priority.
