Taylor Swift’s presence at NFL games has been a regular talking point since she began attending Kansas City Chiefs fixtures to support Travis Kelce.
Her appearances have brought a wave of new attention to the league, with fans and cameras often scanning the stands to see if the singer is in attendance.
On Sunday night at MetLife Stadium, the New York Giants offered their own twist on the ongoing spectacle.
The big screen introduced a “Taylor Cam” while playing Swift’s hit “Welcome to New York,” panning across the crowd as fans anticipated the familiar shot of the pop star. Instead, the camera settled on Giants Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, cigar in hand, revealing it was in fact the “Lawrence Taylor Cam.”
The light-hearted moment amused many in the stadium and quickly gained attention online, as the Giants playfully joined the “Where’s Taylor?” trend that has followed the NFL since Swift’s involvement.
Lawrence Taylor, a first-ballot Hall of Famer, is widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history. He spent his entire career with the Giants from 1981 to 1993, securing four Defensive Player of the Year awards, including as a rookie. He was selected to 10 Pro Bowls, named a first-team All-Pro eight times, and recorded 132.5 official sacks, which rank among the top in league history.
While some Swift fans may have been surprised by the switch, the gesture was taken in good humour as a nod to both Taylor’s legacy and Swift’s influence on the sport.
