FIA foils human smuggling bid

RAWALPINDI:

The FIA Immigration staff at New Islamabad International Airport offloaded five passengers who were allegedly trying to travel abroad on forged documents by showing three children as their own.

An employee of the Airport Authority was also found involved in facilitating the attempt.

According to officials, the passengers were bound for Hong Kong on Thai visit visas.

They were identified as Bushra, Amjad Ali, Alizeh Shaheen, Muhammad Adnan, and Zeeshan Ali Khan. Checking revealed that Amjad Ali was indeed Bushra's real son, but the other three were falsely shown as her children through forged Nadra records.

Investigations disclosed that the families had paid Rs15 million each to an agent, who fraudulently registered Alizeh, Adnan, and Zeeshan as family members of Ejaz Ali with a Swabi address, though they actually belonged to Sargodha, Attock, and Khushab.

The FIA confirmed that a Pakistan Airport Authority staffer was also taken into custody for facilitating the passengers.

The case has been transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell in Islamabad, and the investigation has been expanded to determine possible involvement of Nadra and passport officials.
