D4vd's song "Romantic Homicide" re-enters Top 10 chart on US Spotify amid Celeste Rivas case
US singer D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, has seen his streaming numbers surge in the wake of an ongoing investigation into a body found in a vehicle registered to him.
The body of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas was discovered in a Tesla impounded by Los Angeles police. Burke is said to be fully cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues.
During the same week, his 2022 track Romantic Homicide climbed 102 spots to reach number 42 on the Spotify Global Top 50, and re-entered the US Top 10 to sit at the last spot. The song has now accumulated over 1.7 billion streams.
Streaming growth extended across platforms. Burke gained more than 22,000 Spotify followers in a single day, boosting his monthly listeners to 33.2 million.
On Instagram, his followers increased by more than 25,000, representing a 620% spike, while TikTok and YouTube audiences also grew, with 3.8 million and 2.2 million followers respectively.
The rise in attention has coincided with a pause in his live performances. His Seattle concert was cancelled earlier in the week, and shows scheduled for San Francisco, Los Angeles, and the Grammy Museum were subsequently removed from ticketing platforms.
Reports indicate the remainder of his US tour and the European leg have also been cancelled,
Interscope Records has also suspended the release of the deluxe edition of his debut album Withered: Marcescence, which was scheduled to appear on streaming platforms.
