A tense phone call between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West is featured in the new documentary In Whose Name?.The footage, filmed with West’s cooperation over six years, captures the former couple arguing in 2018 after the rapper visited the White House to meet with then-President Donald Trump.
In the call, Kardashian tells West she feels overwhelmed, saying, “I can’t sleep. I’ve been crying all day. It’s just this bad dream that’s not ending.” She warns him that he risks losing support from people in his professional circles and cautions, “You’re gonna wake up one day and you’re gonna have, like, nothing.”
West pushes back, dismissing her concerns about his reputation in the music industry, and compares his contract with Universal Music Group to slavery. Kardashian challenges his wording, calling it “demeaning,” and defends her own work in business partnerships. At one point, West accuses the reality star of being tied to a “slaveship” through her network, E!, which she rejects, emphasizing gratitude for the opportunities it provided.
The documentary also shows West confronting Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, in a separate disagreement. Neither Kardashian nor Jenner provided comment to the outlet.
Kardashian and West began dating in 2012, married in 2014, and divorced in 2021. They share four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. West publicly supported Trump starting in 2016, later meeting with him in the Oval Office in October 2018. He went on to announce a presidential run in 2020 before conceding that November.
Directed by Nico Ballesteros, In Whose Name? includes more than 3,000 hours of personal footage, offering what producers describe as an unfiltered portrayal of West’s personal and political life.
