The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, set for release on April 3 2026, is at the centre of new speculation after reports claimed that Bowser Jr and Wario could join the cast of characters.
A synopsis briefly posted by Cinépolis El Salvador described the film as featuring “new threats, old rivalries, and a battle that reaches the stars,” with Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi said to face off against Wario and Bowser Jr. Nintendo has not confirmed any such details, but the mention has fuelled widespread fan discussion online.
The potential inclusion of Bowser Jr is considered by many to be a natural step, given his role in the original Super Mario Galaxy, where he serves as a boss character. Wario, however, has never appeared in the Galaxy series, making his possible involvement in the film more unexpected.
Fans on Reddit speculated that Wario could be reserved for a post-credits cameo, similar to the introduction of Yoshi in the first Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Adding to the speculation, an image of a Bowser Jr toy reportedly manufactured by JAKKS Pacific circulated online before being removed following copyright claims.
JAKKS Pacific has previously produced toys linked to the Mario franchise and the earlier film, further contributing to theories that Bowser Jr may appear.
Reaction among fans has ranged from excitement to cautious scepticism. Some expressed enthusiasm at Bowser Jr’s possible debut in the adaptation, while others suggested Wario’s role could be limited or set up for future instalments.
Regardless of the leaks, official details about the Super Mario Galaxy Movie remain limited. Until confirmation from Nintendo or Illumination, discussions around Bowser Jr and Wario’s roles are based on speculation.
The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas worldwide in April 2026.
