Bella Hadid’s latest Instagram post has stirred widespread speculation about her health. On September 17, the 28-year-old model shared a series of photos ranging from serene rainbow shots to images of herself receiving medical treatment, including IV drips and an oxygen mask. Her caption read: “I’m sorry, I always go MIA. I love you guys.”
The post immediately drew concern from fans, but online discussion quickly turned divisive. Supporters expressed compassion, while critics suggested alternative explanations for her condition. On Twitter, some users speculated that Hadid’s symptoms were connected to anorexia or kidney issues, while others dismissed her claims of chronic Lyme disease. A few went further, alleging that her health struggles were linked to eating disorders or even attention-seeking behavior.
Despite the backlash, many defended the model and urged others not to diagnose her through social media. The debate reflects a longstanding divide about Hadid’s health, as she has publicly spoken about living with chronic illness for years. In a 2022 interview with British Vogue, she described the physical toll of her condition, noting that basic tasks like showering often felt overwhelming. She also admitted she experienced “excruciating pain until 11 a.m.” on the day of that interview.
Hadid’s family has also been vocal about chronic Lyme disease. Both her brother, Anwar, and her mother, Yolanda Hadid, have been diagnosed with the illness. Their advocacy has drawn skepticism from some quarters, but they have consistently maintained their diagnoses.
According to the Mayo Clinic, Lyme disease is caused by Borrelia bacteria, typically spread through tick bites. While early treatment with antibiotics is effective, delayed diagnosis can lead to persistent symptoms such as fatigue, joint pain, headaches, and sleep disturbances.
Hadid has not offered further details about her recent hospitalization.
