Japanese Film Festival 2025 opens at ACP
The Consulate-General of Japan inaugurated the Japanese Film Festival 2025 at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi. The annual festival is aimed at promoting Japanese culture through cinema.
The opening ceremony featured the animated film Penguin Highway, a captivating science fiction story that blends childhood curiosity with imaginative adventure. This year's lineup includes a total of eight films, offering audiences exposure to a wide range of genres and narratives from Japan. Screenings will be held at selected venues across Sindh during September and October.
Guest of honour Rahul Aijaz reflected on the deep influence of Japanese culture on his creative journey, citing legendary filmmaker Akira Kurosawa. He also expressed the desire to see joint film productions between Pakistan and Japan to further strengthen cultural exchange and friendship between the two nations.
