Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah

PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary, Shahab Ali Shah, on Wednesday chaired a high-level review meeting on the good governance roadmap interventions of the Construction and Works (C\&W), Minerals and Energy, and Power Departments. The meeting was attended by administrative secretaries and senior officials concerned.

The Chief Secretary reviewed key interventions of the C&W Department, focusing particularly on cost-effectiveness, innovation, and efficiency in service delivery. He directed the adoption of light-gauge steel structures for school buildings, noting that eight schools have already been identified for the pilot project with the PC-1 prepared. The new structures are expected to cut construction time by one-third while ensuring durability of up to 50 years.

Highlighting the department's achievements, Shahab Ali Shah appreciated the complete transition to E-Pads and called for ensuring 100 per cent e-procurement to streamline bidding, call deposits, and work analysis through digital platforms. He also emphasized the need for acquiring high-end technical expertise to enhance departmental capacity. In this regard, the draft for establishing a Strategic Planning, Design and Support Unit (SPDSU) is ready. The proposed unit will serve as a hub for quality assurance and technical excellence.
