The upcoming iCarly movie has received a key update from Miranda Cosgrove, who confirmed that the script is nearly complete and filming is scheduled to begin in early 2026.
Speaking in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor and executive producer revealed that the storyline will introduce Carly’s mother, a character long absent from the series.
Cosgrove explained, “The script is almost finished and it looks like we’re gonna be filming it early next year, so I’m really excited. I think the biggest challenge now is gonna be casting the character that’s gonna be the mom because that’s a character I don’t think any of us ever really thought we were gonna meet within that universe, so we just really want to make sure we get it right.”
Cosgrove also reflected on the reboot experience, noting how returning to iCarly as an adult was “really cool, but it’s definitely kind of strange and crazy,” while emphasising how much she valued having creative input into Carly’s development.
Originally cancelled in 2023 after three seasons on Paramount+, the reboot was praised for updating the series for an older audience.
The confirmed film now serves as the official conclusion to the franchise, providing closure for long-time fans.
