Pakistanis should study modern education in Urdu. It, being an amalgam of various languages, is a vast language that can cope with modern challenges. Such were the views of University of Tokyo Head of Foreign Studies Department Mamio Kensaku who visited the National Language Authority (NLA) along with a group of students from Educator College Chichawatni, Sahiwal on Tuesday, said a press release.

They met with NLA President Dr Anwar Ahmed and discussed organisational responsibilities. Dr Anwar briefed them about the importance of Urdu language. He also talked about the organisational efforts for development of the national language. Kensaku said the Japanese people are getting education in their own language and making progress by leaps and bounds, even though they have a good command over English.

Kensaku, who has command over Urdu and Sindhi, said in Japan every year 15 students get admission in Urdu language programmes. Later, Dr Anwar Ahmed briefed the students about the history of Urdu, calling it the most understandable language in any part of the country.
