
Incidents of robbery and theft continue unabated in the Changa Manga and Kanganpur areas, proving ineffective the law enforcement efforts of the police.
In recent days, a number of local residents have been deprived of millions of rupees in cash, mobile phones, motorcycles and other valuables.
For Kasur police, curbing the crimes appears to have become a major challenge.
Even tye police's Crime Control Department (CCD) has been unable to ensure protection of the citizens, as incidents of theft and robbery are on the rise.
Several such cases have been reported in the jurisdiction of Kanganpur police station.
In Lohay Rajputan, an unidentified robber snatched Rs500,000 from a citizen named Karamat and escaped after opening fire.
In another incident, a WAPDA employee, Mian Kashif Ali, who had come to visit Mela Baba Nek Sarkar, was pickpocketed by unidentified thieves who stole his mobile phone and fled.
Similarly, thieves stole a motorcycle of a citizen, Nadeem Riaz, parked outside his house.
In Basti Mere, owner Mirza Maqsood Baig had placed cots, pillows, mats, sheets, and blankets in a shed in his agricultural land, which were stolen by unidentified people. In Khoh Chaudhry Ahmed, Kanganpur, unidentified thieves stole 150 feet of electric wire from the outhouse of Nawaz Sikandar.
Meanwhile, in Changa Manga, near Bhatta Sardar Akbar, three unidentified armed robbers snatched Rs10,000 and a mobile phone from a factory worker, Javed Iqbal. In another incident, unidentified thieves stole Rs48,000 in cash and important documents from the house of Naseer Ahmed.
On separate written complaints of the victims, Changa Manga and Kanganpur police registered cases against unidentified thieves and robbers.
