Selena Gomez shares one movie that will be required viewing for her future children

Selena Gomez says Pixar’s Inside Out 2 will be required viewing for her future children during a podcast chat.

Selena Gomez has revealed that Pixar’s Inside Out 2 is a film she intends to make required viewing for her future children.

The singer and actress spoke about the animated sequel during her appearance on Amy Poehler’s podcast Good Hang With Amy Poehler.

Gomez praised Poehler for her role as Joy in both Inside Out films, explaining that the sequel, which introduces the character Anxiety into teenager Riley’s life, had a deep emotional impact on her.

“I watched it with my sister and I completely sobbed because it’s so factual … I almost feel like it should have been a requirement in school to watch that as a homework assignment,” she said. Gomez added that her younger sister, Gracie, also cried while watching the film.

Reflecting on how the film resonated with audiences of different ages, Poehler noted that Anxiety’s arrival mirrors universal experiences of growing up. Gomez responded: “I’m gonna make my children watch it … not yet, but when I have kids.”

The conversation turned towards Gomez’s views on boundaries and her interactions with fans. The Only Murders in the Building star admitted that she struggles to say no, often feeling she owes people her time.

However, she suggested this could change when she has children, as she expects to protect her energy and set clearer boundaries.

Gomez also discussed her experiences on set with co-star Martin Short, who highlighted the intense media attention she faces. He described her as professional and protective of fans, even intervening when paparazzi acted disrespectfully.

Gomez herself recounted an incident where she reacted to a photographer with a gesture of frustration, acknowledging the pressures that come with constant scrutiny.

Gomez, who is preparing for her wedding to producer Benny Blanco, continues to balance music, acting, and her Rare Beauty brand.
