Netflix has unveiled the first look at Season 4 of The Witcher, confirming the fantasy drama’s return this fall.
The series, adapted from Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels and CD Projekt Red’s acclaimed video games, will once again follow Geralt of Rivia as he navigates war, monsters and fractured alliances.
The new season marks a significant change for fans, with Liam Hemsworth taking on the role of Geralt following Henry Cavill’s departure after three seasons.
Cavill announced his exit in October 2022, saying, “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4.” He confirmed Hemsworth would inherit the mantle of the White Wolf.
The first teaser shows Hemsworth’s Geralt confronting a ghostly wraith, maintaining the character’s familiar look and presence. The official synopsis hints at divided paths for Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri, who face a world torn apart by conflict but discover unexpected allies along the way.
Alongside Hemsworth, the cast includes Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Joey Batey, Laurence Fishburne and Eamon Farren, with a wide ensemble of returning and new characters.
Season 4 will be followed by a fifth and final instalment, with both filmed back-to-back to cover Sapkowski’s Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow and Lady of the Lake.
Fans can expect eight episodes in the penultimate chapter of The Witcher, setting the stage for the series’ conclusion in Season 5.
The Witcher Season 4 is set to release on October 30 only on Netflix.
