Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi, while addressing the concluding ceremony of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJKSC), said it was an honour for him to participate in the event.
He extended his congratulations to AJKSC Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram and other judges on completing the court's fifty-year journey.
He noted that the AJK Supreme Court had not only improved access to justice but also laid the foundation for political stability in the region.
"The court has rendered outstanding services in delivering justice to all segments of society," he said.
"However, we must now strive to make justice even more accessible and swift, particularly for women, children and underprivileged communities."
Justice Afridi emphasized that the Supreme Court of Pakistan would extend full cooperation to the AJK Supreme Court in various areas including the adoption of modern technology to help develop the institution along contemporary lines.
Highlighting the broader challenges in the judicial system, CJP Afridi said whether in Pakistan or in Azad Kashmir, justice must be made more accessible to the public.
"This requires focusing on three core areas including maintaining the trust of the government, legal fraternity and affected parties in the judiciary. Strengthening relations between the bench and the bar, and utilising modern technology to expedite and enhance the delivery of justice."
In his concluding remarks, Chief Justice Afridi said that the 50-year journey of the AJK Supreme Court is not only a testament to accountability but also a source of renewed hope for swift and affordable justice.
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice Raja Saeed Akram also addressed the judicial conference held as part of the celebrations. He paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the Pakistan Army and the people of the IIOJK.
