Speakers at the seminar tiltled Peace Building in Pakistan: Role of State, Civil Society

A seminar to highlight the need of peace building measures in all sphere of life ‘for the development and prosperity of society’ was held at the Centre for Peace and Harmony on Tuesday. Speakers at the seminar tiltled Peace Building in Pakistan: Role of State, Civil Society and People talked about the elements of hatred and intolerance that were causing unrest in society. More than 100 participants gathered to mark the International Day of Peace. These included Father Nisar Barkat, the National Commission for Justice and Peace (NCJP) director; Peter Jacob, the NCJP executive secretary; MNA Haji Akram Ansari, MPA Joel Amir Bobby, Father Aftab James Paul,  Amina Zamaan from SAP Pakistan, Sadaqat Sardar from Caritas and Molana Zakriya. The speakers also highlighted the role of peace in promoting a developed society and contended that the state, civil society and people themselves should play their dynamic roles in peace building in the country. Meanwhile, the Faisalabad Arts Council will also observe the World Peace Day on September 21. A poster exhibition, tableau and a musical programme on the theme of Peace through Education and Sports will be arranged in the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Auditorium to mark the day. This was announced by Khadija Munir Ahmed.
