Nintendo has officially confirmed that Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will launch as a bundled collection on both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

The announcement came during the September 12 Nintendo Direct, marking a major release in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., which debuted in Japan in 1985.

The collection will be available both physically and digitally from October 2, 2025. Players who prefer to purchase the titles separately will also have the option, with each game listed individually on the Nintendo eShop at $39.99. Preorders are already live.

This release follows Nintendo’s previous anniversary project, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, which launched in 2020 to celebrate the series’ 35th anniversary. That collection included Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and the first Super Mario Galaxy.

The Direct also introduced additional Mario-related announcements. Two new Amiibo were revealed, featuring Mario and Rosalina, designed to coincide with the Galaxy bundle.

A new sports title, Mario Tennis Fever, was confirmed, bringing another entry to the long-running spin-off series. Nintendo further revealed that Super Mario Bros. Wonder will receive a dedicated Switch 2 version, ensuring compatibility with the next-generation console.

Alongside the gaming announcements, Nintendo unveiled updates on the upcoming Super Mario Bros. film. Set for release in 2026, the movie will once again feature Chris Pratt as Mario, while Jack Black reprises his role as Bowser.

With Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel joining the Switch library, fans of the franchise will be able to revisit two of Mario’s most celebrated 3D adventures while looking ahead to new projects on Nintendo’s next hardware.
