CJ arrives in AJK to attend conference

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi arrived in AJK on Friday to participate in the golden jubilee celebrations of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court (AJKSC).

Chief Justice of AJKSC Justice Raja Saeed Akram received the CJP Justice Afridi upon his arrival to the capital city. Later, AJKSC Chief Justice Akram hosted the dinner in honour of CJP and said it was a great honour for the AJKSC for hosting CJP Justice Afridi in the concluding session of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of AJKSC.

Justice Afridi will deliver a keynote address as the chief guest at the Judicial Conference on Saturday (today). A large number of judges from the Supreme Court of Pakistan will also attend the judicial conference.

In addition, the Chief Justices of the Islamabad High Court, Peshawar High Court and Gilgit-Baltistan High Court have also arrived to attend the event.

Prominent legal figures including the Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan, Additional Attorneys General from Punjab, Islamabad and the Supreme Court Rawalpindi Bench as well as Assistant Advocate Generals, former and current office-bearers of various bar councils and bar associations have also reached here to participate in the Judicial Conference.

Speakers at the golden jubilee celebrations of the AJKSC will include Chief Justice of AJK Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, Senior Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, former Chief Justices of AJK, the Vice Chairman of the Bar Council, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association and other senior lawyers.
