KARACHI:

Actor Hira Mani, one of Pakistani television's most recognisable faces, has announced her debut in the fashion industry with the launch of Hira Mani Couture, a luxury label that she says blends "timeless tradition with modern artistry."

The announcement came through a series of Instagram posts, where the actor shared glimpses of her vision for the brand. "A debut defined by detail — fine threadwork, fluid cuts, and silhouettes crafted to celebrate elegance. Step into the world of Hira Mani Couture," read one of the posts.

Another introduced Afsaanay '25, the first collection, with the promise that "every detail tells a story" through intricate embroidery and graceful silhouettes.

According to the brand's messaging, the philosophy behind Hira Mani Couture is rooted in "artistry, quality, and individuality," aiming to create ensembles that "embody luxury while staying true to tradition."

Hira described the label as more than just clothing, framing it as "a celebration of womanhood, confidence, and the joy of dressing up." The debut reflects a shift for the star, who has built her career largely on the small screen.

Best known for her roles in serials such as Do Bol, Meray Paas Tum Ho, Yaqeen Ka Safar, and Kashf, Hira has long been in the public eye not just for her acting, but also for her outspoken persona and bold fashion choices.

That boldness, however, has often drawn controversy. Just recently, she faced online criticism after posting a rain-themed photoshoot in a blue silk saree. Captioned with a romantic line — "The weather is telling whose mischief it is, the raindrops are revealing whose warmth it is" — the images quickly went viral.

But many users accused the actor of insensitivity, pointing to the devastating floods and heavy rains that have claimed lives across the country. "This is not the time for bold photoshoots. The nation is in mourning," one user commented.

Another urged her to follow the example of fellow actors Ayeza Khan and Mahira Khan, often praised for their understated style. Such scrutiny is not new for Hira, who has frequently been a lightning rod for debate on social media.

Admirers laud her confidence and willingness to push boundaries, while detractors question her timing and taste. Yet, in moving into fashion, she appears determined to channel that same confidence into design.

With Afsaanay '25 "launching soon," Hira Mani Couture promises to offer "fashion that resonates with grace, versatility, and a touch of modern glamour." Whether her new venture will silence critics or fuel further conversation remains to be seen — but much like her acting career, it is unlikely to go unnoticed.
