FAISALABAD:

A drug-related dispute turned deadly when firing at a local outhouse left two men dead and another injured.

Police arrested the suspect on the spot and recovered the weapon used in the crime.

Police said the incident took place in the Sandal Bar area near 56-JB Narwala Road, Chhota Ghiala.

Muhammad Ashraf alias Malangi, son of Latif of 29-JB, along with Azeem (42), son of Shaukat of 56-JB, Mohsin (35), son of Siddique of 30-JB, and Rameez alias Balu, son of Ashraf, were reportedly consuming crystal meth (ice) when a quarrel broke out over its sharing.

In a fit of rage, Ashraf opened fire with a 30-bore pistol, injuring all three companions. While being shifted to hospital, Azeem — who was shot in the chest — and Mohsin — hit in the head — succumbed to their injuries. Rameez, who sustained bullet wounds on his hands, was taken to a private hospital for treatment.

Following the double murder, senior police officials, including SP Iqbal Town Saeed Ahmed, DSP Khuda Bakhsh, and other officers, reached the scene. The bodies were moved to hospital for postmortem before being handed over to the families.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Zeeshan Asghar took notice of the killings and directed CPO Faisalabad Sahibzada Bilal Umar to submit a detailed report. He further instructed senior officers to meet the victims' families and assure them of justice.

Acting on orders, SHO Sandal Bar, Sub-Inspector Ghazi Haq Nawaz, conducted raids and arrested the accused, Ashraf alias Malangi, recovering the murder weapon. A case under double murder and attempted murder sections has been registered, and interrogation is underway.
