Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is set to arrive in US cinemas on September 12 2025, with industry forecasts suggesting the film could break long-standing box office records for an anime release.
The film is the first in a planned trilogy adapting the final arc of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
It follows Tanjiro Kamado, who joins the Demon Slayer Corps after his family is killed by demons. His mission becomes more complex when his sister Nezuko, the sole survivor of the attack, is transformed into a demon herself.
Sony, which is distributing the release alongside Crunchyroll, has projected an opening of around $35 million across 3,300 US screens. However, Deadline reports that analysts believe the total could reach between $45 million and $60 million.
The figure will be boosted by IMAX and Premium Large Format screenings, with previews in 2,800 theatres beginning on September 11.
If early projections hold, the film will surpass the $31 million record set by Pokémon: The First Movie in 1999 for the biggest US debut of an anime film.
Internationally, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has already grossed $273 million, ranking as the 14th highest-earning film of 2025 so far.
Returning cast members include Zach Aguilar as Tanjiro, while the English dub introduces Channing Tatum as Keizo, a new character within the story.
The release continues the global success of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, one of the most commercially successful anime franchises of recent years.
Fans in the UK will also be able to see Infinity Castle from September 12, while previous seasons of the series remain available to stream on Crunchyroll.
