Comedy Central pulls ‘South Park’ episode parodying Charlie Kirk after his assassination
-Paramount
Comedy Central has removed an episode of South Park that spoofed conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk following his assassination earlier this month.
The episode, titled Got a Nut, aired as part of the show’s 27th season and featured a storyline parodying Kirk alongside the series’ typical satire of political figures.
The network confirmed the episode’s removal in light of Kirk’s death and the sensitive nature of the situation. South Park, created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, is known for its irreverent humor and frequent lampooning of public figures across the political spectrum.
However, in this case, Comedy Central opted to pull the content rather than risk insensitivity toward real-world events.
Originally released just weeks before Kirk’s death, the episode had been available for streaming on Comedy Central’s digital platforms. There is currently no indication of when or if it will return to circulation.
Despite being depicted humorously in the long-running satire, Kirk addressed the episode in one of his final media interviews with Fox News Digital, calling his portrayal a “badge of honour” and laughing off the depiction.
Fans of the series reacted on social media, expressing mixed feelings about the decision. Some praised the network for acting responsibly, while others noted that the show’s brand has long been built on pushing boundaries and satirizing public personalities.
Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was widely recognized for his alignment with US President Donald Trump and his commentary on conservative politics. His assassination has sparked broad media coverage and a wave of responses from both political and entertainment circles.
