Kumail Nanjiani and Emily Gordon mourn death of beloved cat Bagel in heartfelt tribute

Kumail Nanjiani and his wife Emily Gordon have announced the death of their cat Bagel, sharing a heartfelt tribute on Instagram.

The couple, who married in 2007, described their beloved pet as “happy, carefree and totally herself till the very end,” calling her their “tiny perfect angel for her entire life.”

The post, shared on September 10, featured 19 photos and videos of the grey cat, capturing moments from Bagel’s life. “She travelled the world with us,” the caption began. “She loved her boxes of trash and catnip bananas. She loved churu but never out of the tube.”

Bagel had long been part of the couple’s public story. In 2019, Emily Gordon posted a photo of the cat draped across Nanjiani’s lap while he played video games, affectionately noting his dual role as both Marvel star and devoted pet owner.

For Valentine’s Day in 2020, the pair wore matching pyjamas featuring Bagel’s face, celebrating their unique family bond.

More recently, Nanjiani posted about Bagel on Father’s Day, writing, “She always puts her paw on my chin when I pick her up.”

On International Cat Day, he shared a playful update, “I would quite literally do anything for Bagel.” Gordon responded to one light-hearted post about Bagel’s ageing whiskers with the words, “She’s just a baby.”
