Tom Holland unveils secret plan to make Spider-Man: Brand New Day even better

Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks a major milestone in Marvel history — it’s Tom Holland’s fourth solo film as the web-slinger and the beginning of a second trilogy with the same actor, a first for the franchise. The film will also introduce Jon Bernthal’s Punisher to the MCU.
Following the massive success of No Way Home, which united three generations of Spider-Men and became one of the highest-grossing films ever, Brand New Day has big expectations to meet. While Holland once questioned whether he’d return, filming is now underway — and he’s more involved than ever.
Speaking to Esquire, Holland said he's focused on honoring Peter Parker and delivering what fans truly want. “I want to bring the fans something that’s really worthy of their time,” he explained. “I did a lot of sneaky research online… and went to Marvel saying, ‘This is what I think we should be doing.’”
He emphasized his newfound role in shaping the story, calling it “a stressful but fun process,” and believes the film is “shooting absolute gold.”
Critics of past Spider-Man films often cite their large scale and heavy crossover elements. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has promised Brand New Day will be a more grounded, street-level story — something Holland says fans have asked for.
With a deeper understanding of Peter Parker and direct input from the fanbase, Holland says this installment feels like reconnecting with an old friend.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
