Nintendo Direct confirmed for September 12 with Switch 2 updates

Nintendo has confirmed its next Direct for Sept. 12, highlighting Switch 2 titles and major game updates.

Nintendo has confirmed that its next Nintendo Direct broadcast will take place on Friday, September 12, 2025.

The event will be streamed live across the company’s official YouTube channels and website, beginning at 6 a.m. PDT, 2 p.m. BST, 3 p.m. CEST, and 10 p.m. JST.

This Direct marks Nintendo’s first major presentation since the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year. As a result, the upcoming showcase is already being viewed as one of the most highly anticipated broadcasts in recent memory.

While Nintendo has not revealed the full lineup of games, fans are expecting fresh updates on flagship titles. Among the most notable is Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which was recently rated across several regions but has yet to receive an official release date.

The timing of the presentation has also fueled speculation about possible announcements tied to the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., which takes place just days after the event. Industry watchers believe Nintendo could use the showcase to unveil anniversary-related projects or new Mario content.

Rumors surrounding a September Direct had been circulating for weeks, with insiders pointing to either September 11 or 12 as likely dates. Nintendo’s confirmation has now set expectations high for a presentation that could shape the early Switch 2 era.

The broadcast is expected to run for around 40 minutes and will highlight key releases planned for late 2025 and beyond, giving fans a clearer picture of what’s next for Nintendo’s expanding software lineup.
