A lucky buyer has officially embraced the power of the dark side after purchasing Darth Vader’s lightsaber for a staggering $3.65 million at auction.

The iconic weapon, used in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, went under the hammer at Propstore’s auction on Thursday, far surpassing its original estimate of $1 to $3 million. In total, the lightsaber received 31 bids, with the winning offer closing at $3,654,000.

According to Propstore, this particular prop was the main dueling lightsaber used by both David Prowse (who physically portrayed Vader) and stunt performer Bob Anderson during the filming of the original Star Wars sequels. It’s also reportedly the only lightsaber from the original trilogy to ever be offered at auction.

“This is a landmark moment not just for Propstore, but for the world of film memorabilia,” said Propstore COO Brandon Alinger in a statement to Variety. “Seeing a Star Wars lightsaber — the symbol of one of cinema’s greatest sagas — become the most valuable piece from the franchise ever sold at auction speaks volumes about the cultural legacy of Star Wars and its devoted fan base.”

The auction continues through Saturday and includes other notable film props, such as Indiana Jones’ bullwhip, belt, and holster from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, which sold for $475,650.
