A newly surfaced 2025 Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) report reveals fresh allegations from Duane Keith Davis, also known as Keefe D, who claims that music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs offered a $1 million bounty to have Tupac Shakur and Suge Knight killed. This claim, originally made in confidential police interviews in 2008 and 2009, resurfaced in the document and is now part of the legal proceedings as Keefe D faces charges related to Tupac’s 1996 murder.
In the report, Keefe D alleges that Diddy expressed a desire to see Tupac and Knight dead, saying he “would give anything for those dudes’ heads,” and reportedly offered a $1 million payment to have them killed. The fatal shooting of Tupac took place just hours after a violent altercation between him, Knight, and rival gang members at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, following a Mike Tyson fight on September 7, 1996. Tupac died six days later from multiple gunshot wounds, while Suge Knight survived with a head injury.
Although Diddy has consistently denied any involvement in Tupac’s death, claiming the allegations are unfounded, the resurfaced report has reignited public interest in the long-unsolved case. Diddy has never been charged or named as a suspect in the murder.
Adding fuel to the fire, Diddy’s former bodyguard, Gene Deal, has called for federal agents to investigate a potential $1 million check that may be linked to the murder-for-hire plot. Deal has suggested that the funds may have passed through Eric “Von Zip” Martin, an associate of Keefe D. According to Deal, following the money trail could uncover new evidence connecting Diddy to the crime.
In a 2008 audio recording that surfaced in August 2024, Keefe D also revealed that he had attempted to collect the $1 million from Diddy, but was betrayed by Martin, who allegedly disappeared with the money. Keefe D, who is the only individual charged in connection with Tupac’s murder, is scheduled to stand trial in February 2026 and has pleaded not guilty, asserting that some of his earlier statements were made under immunity and should not be used against him.
