KHANEWAL:

Eight armed men posing as Crime Control Department (CCD) officials allegedly abducted a food inspector outside his residence, held him hostage for eight hours and looted cash, valuables, and his car before dumping him in Multan.

Food Inspector Malik Qasim Ran, posted in Kot Islam and a resident of Pul Rango, was returning home in his vehicle when two cars carrying eight men intercepted him.

Equipped with wireless sets and pistols, the suspects claimed they were from CCD and alleged that his car was stolen. When Qasim refused to hand over his keys, they beat him, forced him into the vehicle, and covered his face with a black cloth.

The suspects then blocked traffic for a while on the Multan–Khanewal Road before driving away with the victim.

Police said the suspects later installed a signal jammer in the car, changed its number plates, and drove him around various areas of Khanewal before heading towards Multan through Ranwan check post.

During the ordeal, they snatched Rs30,000 cash, his mobile phone, driving licence, ATM card, and the car itself.

Forcing him to disclose his ATM PIN, they withdrew Rs100,000 before midnight and another Rs100,000 after midnight, making a total of Rs200,000.
