Home and Law Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar chaired the inaugural meeting of the Katcha Areas Monitoring Committee, reviewing the law-and-order situation, ongoing anti-bandit operations, and strategic directives.
AIG Operations Sindh, Zubair Nazir Sheikh, briefed the committee on the urgent need for modern weapons, secure vehicles, and improved checkpoint facilities. He emphasized equipping police with advanced tools and professional training to sustain operational success.
Minister Lanjar stated that any surrender by dacoits must comply strictly with legal protocols. He praised the effectiveness of joint operations over the past seven months and commended all stakeholders for their coordinated efforts.
Acknowledging the impact of recent floods in Katcha and coastal areas, Lanjar affirmed that any surrender requests would be handled lawfully. He stressed the importance of accelerating bridge projects in Ghotki and Kashmore to curb crime, noting that completed bridges in Dadu, Moro, Larkana, and Khairpur had already reduced criminal activity.
To maintain essential services during operations, Lanjar directed inquiries into the number of schools, hospitals, and dispensaries in Katcha areas, aiming to establish temporary campuses.
