Child maid burned with hot iron for burning dupatta

A 12-year-old house help, Zainab, was subjected to brutal torture by her employers inside their residence in PECHS Block 2, within the jurisdiction of Ferozabad police station.

According to police, the couple allegedly pressed a hot iron on the girl's back, arms, and legs, leaving severe burn marks all over her body. She was rushed to Jinnah Hospital in critical condition, where doctors described her condition as highly precarious.

Investigators said the child was allegedly tortured simply because a dupatta (scarf) was burnt while she was ironing. A case was registered at Ferozabad police station on the complaint of the victim's mother, after which the accused couple, Kanwal and Shehroz, were arrested.

The Judicial Magistrate (East) heard the bail pleas of the accused on Saturday. Police produced the couple in court and sought their physical remand, but the defense counsel argued that the family was being blackmailed by the complainant and said the accused had already expressed regret over the incident.

The court approved their bail against surety bonds of Rs30,000 each. Police had opposed the request, citing medical reports that confirmed Zainab's severe burn injuries and her admission to the Burns Ward of Civil Hospital. Further investigation into the case is underway.
